The God of Protection in front of the Intercontinental Hotel is the grand protector of heaven, hell, and earth. With his almighty vessel, the sacred Garuda, the God of Protection uses his might and power to ensure that good prevails over evil.

Hindus believe that the God of Protection can banish all evil and protect the lives of those who are most worthy. To protect over the earth, the God of Protection is constantly appearing on earth in many different forms. It is also believed that the Lord Buddha is one incarnation of the God of Protection. “When virtue and goodness are stricken from the earth and evilness reigns over the land, I shall be back to set things right and ensure the goodness always prevails.”

Handsome and lively in stature, the God of Protection is often dressed in the finest golden garb adorned with beautiful diamonds and gems. He is always depicted holding his magical weapons which include the disc, mace, conch, and lotus.

His companion in life and love is the Goddess of Wealth and Fortune. They reside in the sacred Kalasa Ocean with their trusted ally, the Serpent Queen, Pra Ya Nak, and often listen to the prayers and grievances of mystical hermits and other gods. His vessel is the sacred Garuda in all his mystical quests. This almighty God is the inspiration behind the mythological Ramakien Sagas, most commonly found on temple walls depicting the Monkey-headed gods and mythological giants as well as Khon Drama in Thai literature and art.
